Album Description
Portland Sketches is a live, improvisational experiment from trumpeter Charlie Porter, born from a COVID-era livestream at The 1905 in Portland. Featuring Mike Gamble (guitar), Andrew Jones (bass), and Darian Anthony Patrick (drums), the project transforms brief musical fragments—melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic sketches—into full-fledged performances conceived in the moment. Visual artists later joined to “sketch” in real time alongside videography inspired by the live music, making Portland Sketches a multidisciplinary document of spontaneity, resilience, and creative community. Released May 14, 2025, on PHP Records, it comprises 8 tracks and runs about 40 minutes.
