This is one of the most ambitious projects of Schema Records: the encounter between the well known DJ, producer, and composer Nicola Conte and the composer, musician, and trombonist Gianluca Petrella. Influenced by his father who played the trombone, Gianluca Petrella has become today a reality in the world of jazz, in Italy as well as internationally also due to collaborations with musicians of great calibre such as Enrico Rava. Gianluca was born in Bari and it is not by chance that Nicola Conte and him met. Nicola wanted this collaboration so much that it was him to come up with the Nicola Conte & Gianluca Petrella project which hopefully will anticipate a full length album on Schema. These two tracks are just the taste of what the talents of the two artist brought together can do. The tracks are influenced by '60s jazz music and from the sonorities from big bands such as Gil Evans, Don Ellis, and George Russell. New Standards has a base drum in 4/4 while Theme in Hi-Fi is in typical Bossa flavor both featuring improvisations and performances by the Italian trumpet player Fabrizio Bosso and the vibraphonist Pasquale Bardaro.
