Album Description

Nova Scotia-born, Toronto-based drummer Joe Bowden has been wowing audiences for decades. The recipient of the Pioneer Award at the 2018 African Nova Scotian Music Awards and the prestigious Bucky Adams Memorial Award at the 2023 East Coast Music Awards, he is a go-to sideman for a who’s who of jazz and R&B luminaries, including Gavin Hope, Beau Dixon, Divine Brown, Jackie Richardson, Alana Bridgewater and the incomparable Salome Bey. Bowden began to compose, produce and record in 2010, releasing his first critically acclaimed album Voices In My Head in 2012. Fast forward a little over a decade and his artistic voice has been fully realized with his sixth album Music is Life. Here, Bowden’s musical vision is brought to life by an international ‘A’ Team of players with the invaluable support of pianist and arranger Manuel Valera, vibraphonist Warren Wolf, and bassists Mike Downes and Rich Brown, who help lift Bowden’s compositions to the next level. Music is Life is an incredible addition to Bowden’s rich catalogue. It’s an instant jazz fusion classic. The worldwide physical release date for Music is Life was Friday, August 22nd 2025.
