Album Description
Boreal celebrates the reunion of Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos with Perico Sambeat, a renowned international musician who shines as composer, musical director, and soloist. Their collaboration began over fifteen years ago with a Spanish jazz concert at Casa da Música, followed by a 2021 exploration of Ornette Coleman’s music. Now, the Matosinhos big band dives deep into Sambeat’s vibrant musical vision, a cornerstone of contemporary jazz. This Iberian-inspired album showcases the elegance of Sambeat’s compositions, blending rich, lyrical harmonies with the ensemble’s versatile artistry.
