Album Description
Pianist, composer and conductor Leïla Olivesi, winner of the Prize Django Reinhardt from the French Jazz Academy, is offering a new brilliant album AFRICAN RHAPSODY. Her Octet features the best musicians of her generation : Quentin Ghomari (ONJ) on trumpet and astonishing altoist Baptiste Herbin, Adrien Sanchez on tenor sax (Flash Pig), Manu Codjia on guitar (Henri Texier, Daniel Humair). This rich and powerful music is calling to dance with joyful and latin melodies. The wonderful voice of Camille Bertault and the choir Poetic Birds are guests on a few songs based on the poetry of the greatest poetry from Africa : Leopold Sedar Senghor, Djamila Olivesi and David Diop.
African Rhapsody gathers beautifully the best of the French jazz scene, performing in festivals such as Jazz at St Germain des Prés and Jazz in Marciac in 2025, Angra Jazz and Marseille Jazz des 5 continents in 2026.
