Teodora Brody Enache

Born:

Teodora Brody is an alchemist. She can summon the spirits of her own roots from the grieving romanian Doina, enchant you with her deep, visceral jazz tone of voice, and amaze you with her vocal textures in a stunning interpretation of classical pieces by celebrated composers like Beethoven, Béla Bartók and George Enescu. An iconic romanian singer, known as Teodora Enache in her native Romania, currently living in Germany, Teodora Brody is a fierce spiritual and musical explorer. A former mathematician turned into a jazz singer by her own vision and love of Ella Fitzgerald, disciple of unquestionable the most important romanian jazz musician, pianist Johnny Răducanu, with whom she played and recorded, she also performed and recorded with excellent musicians like bassists Stanley Jordan, Lars Danielsson, Benny Rietveld, former bass player of Miles Davis and currently Carlos Santana's bass player and musical director, bulgarian kaval player Theodosii Spassov and many others. She was named "Romanian Cultural Ambassador to the USA" and she played important jazz festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz In Marciac, Lugano Jazz Festival, and venues like Corcoran Museum, Iridium, Bozar Hall. With 14 records released under her name ranging from jazz, klezmer, ethno jazz, special projects such as the musical "The Prophet", after Kahlil Gibran's masterpiece, and a career spanning two decades, Teodora Brody is now moving forward into new territories of a crossover between jazz and classical music. Commissioned in 2019 by one of the most important classical music festivals in Europe, George Enescu Festival, she performed her new born project, "From Classical To Jazz" to a cheering crowd of a sold out National Theater of Bucharest
