Press Release Submission Tips
Submitting a news announcement to All About Jazz for the first time? Following these guidelines will help us prepare and publish your announcement as quickly as possible—and help readers find it once it's live.
Before You Submit
- All About Jazz accepts professional press releases and news announcements related to jazz and improvised music.
- Announcements must contain at least 250 words.
- Proofread your announcement before submitting it. Excessive spelling or grammatical errors will delay publication.
- Select the announcement type that best matches your news. For a new album release, select Recording.
- Submit a professional-quality lead image. Images should be horizontally oriented and ideally sized to 936 × 562 pixels.
Formatting & Style
A few simple formatting guidelines will help your announcement fit naturally into All About Jazz:
- Do not include FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
- Do not repeat the headline at the beginning of the announcement.
- Do not include publicist/contact information in the body. When applicable, select the publicist from the News Source list.
- Italicize album, film and book titles using the
<em>tag. Example:<em>Kind of Blue</em>. - Place song titles in "double quotes."
- Use the
<h3>tag for subheads within the announcement. - Hotlink all URLs. Non-linked URLs may be removed during preparation.
- Enter email addresses in the notification field, one address per line, rather than placing them in the announcement.
- Do not abbreviate.
- Use title case in the headline and subheaders (do not uppercase text).
You can also link a musician's name directly to their All About Jazz musician page by placing two curly braces around the musician information:
{{Christian McBride}}

Help People Find Your Announcement
A clear headline and accurate information make your announcement easier to discover both on All About Jazz and through search.
Keep your headline concise and descriptive, and include the artist's name whenever appropriate.
For a live performance, a straightforward format works well:
[Artist Name] at [Venue Name] on [Date]
If the announcement applies to a particular city or region, select the appropriate location under Regional Information. Regional announcements can then be associated with the corresponding Jazz Near You area.
You may include tour dates in your announcement, but don't stop there. Add those performances to the Jazz Near You calendar so people searching for live jazz in those locations can discover them directly.
What All About Jazz Does
Every submitted announcement is reviewed and prepared before publication. We may correct formatting, grammar and style so the announcement is consistent with All About Jazz presentation standards.
We preserve the substance of your announcement while preparing it for publication and discovery across the All About Jazz platform.
Once your announcement is published, we'll send you a confirmation with a direct link that you can share with your audience.
One More Tip
Your announcement doesn't have to work alone.
Make sure your All About Jazz musician page is current, add upcoming performances to Jazz Near You, and use the appropriate links within your announcement. The more complete and interconnected your information is across All About Jazz and Jazz Near You, the easier it is for readers to continue discovering you and your music.
