Lucia Cadotsch
Born:
Originally from Zurich, now living in Berlin, Lucia Cadotsch studied Jazz at the UDK Berlin and at the RMK in Copenhagen. The German Newspaper DIE ZEIT recognizes in the singer one of the most important voices “for the resurrection of jazz melody beyond tired scripts and singer-songwriter clichés.” In 2016 she released the trio album Speak Low (Enja records) with Petter Eldh on bass and Otis Sandsjö on tenor saxophone. The record is a gorgeous sonic love letter to her soul mates from a distant musical past and won her the ECHO Jazz Award 2017 in the category "singer of the year"

Re-Convening The Convention: jazzahead's Bold Comeback Plan
by Josef Woodard
A delicate, operational balance between sophistication, jazz cultural advocacy and marketwise boosterism has been in place since the inception of the ambitious adventure known as jazzahead!. One can sense that balance in the convention/showcase festival's very branding, with its title stylized as in coolly lowercase composite word festooned with an emphatic exclamation point, and in the ...
