Jazz Industry Publication Expands Scope

ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Yellow Dog Communications, Inc. has announced that the Yellow Dog Jazz Report will re-launch Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 as JazzWeek.

The Yellow Dog Jazz Report web site (www.yellowdogjazz.com) has become an invaluable source of information for jazz radio and the jazz music industry. JazzWeek will continue to publish weekly national jazz and smooth jazz charts tabulated from airplay reports submitted by radio stations and satellite broadcasters in the United States and Canada. The new web site (www.JazzWeek.com) will increase the amount of industry news and CD reviews, and will add other new editorial sections in coming months.

“The new name - JazzWeek - is more succinct and will help us as we expand the scope and reach of the publication-," said Tony Gasparre, publisher. “We wanted to create a brand that would say a lot, without saying a lot."

Public sections of the JazzWeek web site display news, features, CD reviews, the previous week's charts, and a regular column by contributing editors Kent and Keith Zimmerman.

Other portions of the web site are accessible only by subscribers. Paid subscribers, working in jazz radio promotion, can obtain detailed radio airplay, including data that can be downloaded into spreadsheets or databases. Every Friday, the current top 50 jazz and smooth jazz charts are posted, along with regional charts and each station's individual report. Airplay data is included for each release showing week-by-week spins and stations reporting the release.

Another section of the site is for reporting radio stations, who can view airplay reports from other stations, a listing of upcoming releases, and information for show preparation. “A beautifully designed site packed with vital information!" proclaimed Michael Hurzon, CEO of The Tracking Station, an independent record promotion company. “A must-have tool for any serious radio promotion campaign, JazzWeek is the new standard in jazz radio."
