The dynamic tap dancer/choreographer Yvonne Curry rings in the New Year with “The Best of Ten Years at Third Street Music School Settlement," a joyous memoir in words, dance and jazz, swing and R&B music. The event is part of Third Street's Faculty Artist Series.

Ten years ago an ad in “Backstage" magazine introduced Ms. Curry to Third Street. Countless inspired young tap students and several filled-to-capacity revue performances later, this promises to be another unforgettable evening with the inimitable “Miss Yvonne." The show, featuring performances by Ms. Curry and numerous surprise guests ages 3 to 93 (more or less!), offers something for everyone.

This free event is likely to “sell out," so audience members are advised to arrive early to secure a good seat.

YVONNE CURRY earned her B.A. in dance at Brooklyn College and worked for more than fifteen years internationally, training dancers for television, stage and theater. Ms. Curry was the tap instructor/ choreographer for Ballet of Venevision (Channel 4) in Caracas, Venezuela and jazz instructor/ choreographer for Leona Laviscount School of Dance and Antenna 3 television in Milan, Italy. She is a Board member and former Co-President of the New York Coalition of Professional Women in Arts and Media and a member of the American Dance Guild, the International Tap Association and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. Yvonne Curry is a Teaching Artist in New York City public schools and a faculty member of Third Street Music School Settlement and the Harlem School of the Arts.

ABOUT THE FACULTY ARTIST SERIES. Third Street Music School Settlement showcases its outstanding teaching artists and their guests in its annual Faculty Artist Series. Concerts take place on Friday evenings from September through May and are appropriate for children age six years and older. Programs are subject to change without notice.

ABOUT THIRD STREET. As the nation's oldest community school of the arts, Third Street Music School Settlement has been nurturing, inspiring and educating youth and adults since its founding in 1894. It provides quality instruction in music, dance and the visual arts to more than 3,500 children and teens each year, regardless of their artistic ability or financial means, both at the School and in public school classrooms and community centers across Manhattan's Lower East Side. Three-quarters of all youth served benefit from a generous tuition assistance program and program subsidies. Third Street also provides music instruction to adults of all ages and levels, and presents more than 250 free, public concerts and recitals by students, faculty and guest artists throughout the year.
