The attempt will be made at Centenary Square, Birmingham on Thursday, 20th July 2006 at 5:30pm. Any trombonist is welcome to join in, regardless of age or ability, and become a record-breaker playing alongside over 400 festival delegates, 350 young trombonists from music services across the country, and conducted by the legendary Denis Wick. Both groups will be performing later that evening in Symphony Hall, as part of the ITF Education Day Concert.
The International Trombone Festival is the world's largest event for trombonists and includes a host of international stars in all fields such as soloists Brett Baker, Ian Bousfield, Ben van Dijk, Wycliffe Gordon, Jacques Mauger, Mark Nightingale, and Jiggs Whigham. A stunning array of ensembles also perform over the four days including Bones Apart Trombone Quartet, Brazilian Trombone Ensemble, BBC Big Band, Fine Arts Brass Ensemble, Central Band of the Royal Air Force and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Registration to attend the other festival concerts and activities is open to anyone and tickets start from just 15 for a full day pass including evening concert. Full details and a schedule of events is available online at www.itf2006.org or by calling +44 870 005 2113.
