The Trenton Downtown Association (TDA) presents the second annual Women in Jazz festival in Downtown Trenton Friday, Oct. 10.

The ladies will be doing it for themselves on Friday, Oct. 10 when Trenton2Nite brings an eclectic mix of seasoned and up-and coming female artists to downtown for the second annual Women in Jazz festival. In addition to celebrating girl power, the festival will help commemorate the Trenton Community Music Schools Ten Year Anniversary.

The festival, part of TDAs Trenton2Nite series, a monthly celebration of art, culture and music downtown, is FREE.

The festival lists an impressive line-up, including organist, pianist, bassist and vocalist Gloria Coleman; saxophonist Tia Fuller, who toured with R&B superstar Beyonce as part of her all-female band for 2007s “The Beyonce Experience"; Monnette Sudler; Lynn Riley; Pam Purvis; Sue Giles; Elise Wood; Rebeca Vallejo, who fuses Flamenco and Brazilian music in her jazz interpretations; Venissa Santi, whose music blends blues, jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms; and trumpeter Kiku Collins, who has also toured with Beyonce and has worked with Dave Wakeling, Jay Z, Kelly Rowland, and TM Stevens. The Bucks County Community College Chamber Jazz Ensemble and The Anointed Ezekiel Dancers (who were rained out at the last Trenton2Nite) are also scheduled to perform. The event will feature individual performances, as well as a vocalist jam featuring Gloria Coleman, Tia Fuller, Monnette Sudler, Sue Giles, Lynn Riley and Elise Wood.

Performance venues include the Trenton Marriott, Maxines 2, Gallery 125, as well as outdoors along South Warren Street. There will also be performances at Caf Ole and Gilmores Caf.
