Westchester, NY -- Emily Tabin, Executive Director of the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, announced that Andrew Morris has been elected to WJO's Board of Directors. Mr. Morris is President of the financial consulting firm Sycamore Capital Corporation. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and recently spearheaded the formation of the Wharton Club of New York Community Partnership Committee, a Wharton alumnae group that provides volunteer consulting services to non-profit organizations.

WJO is a world-class local resource made up of 17 musicians who are among today's jazz greats. The Orchestra, which has been thrilling Westchester residents with concerts since 2003, received national recognition recently with the release of its debut CD, All In. WJO will begin its 2009-10 performance season on Saturday, Sept. 26th with a special guest, guitarist John Scofield.

A Briarcliff resident, Mr. Morris has also served hundreds of local youth as director and coach of numerous soccer and, more recently, basketball organizations, roles he continues today. He says, Jazz music is a unique American treasure, and WJO provides a great forum to spread this rich culture. I look forward to opportunities that showcase the musical talent of the Orchestra and expand the programs of this important organization.

WJO is a non-profit organization and concerts are partially funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, ArtsWestchester and the Aaron Copland Fund for Music as well as by numerous individuals.
