Nothing is more appropriate that a French style jazz and swing band for wine promotions and food and wine festivals. Viva the band is such a band, they perform a rich tapestry of music skillfully blending a mixture of: jazz, swing, latin, gypsy jazz , salsa, French , cabaret and classic show tunes providing a distinctive continental and “French” ambiance
Viva the band have performed at food and wine promotions at Manly and the Hunter Valley The band has been invited to perform for the third year at the Manly Food and Wine Festival on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June. The band has also just returned from the 18th Yalumba Jazz Festival at Thredbo where they performed to very appreciative audiences at the Thredbo Community theatre, the Credo restaurant, the Terrace restaurant and the Eagles Nest restaurant. Viva the band is very popular in Sydney with their performances at a “Moulin Rouge” themed party at Tumbalong Ballroom, “The Miss World Butterfly Ball” at Four Point by Sheraton at Darling Harbour, “Discovery After Dark” at the Australian Maritime Museum and the Royal Easter Show. The band will be performing in Taiwan for four weeks in July 2005 where they will be showcased in a street parade, a welcome by the mayor of Tainan and a series of concerts and television performances.
The basis of the band is a trio comprising: Jazz violin, Spanish guitar, musette accordion and bass creating a “Hot Club of France” style of music. The trio can be extended to a quintet or sextet for variety and cabaret style performances with the addition of a drummer plus a male and a female vocalist who also perform with congas and percussion instruments.
