Vocal Jazz Program Added to Usdan Center's 2008 Summer Season

Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, now celebrating its 40th year as America's premier summer arts day camp, is adding several new programs for 2008: among them will be Vocal Jazz, an addition to Usdan's acclaimed instrumental Jazz Department. The Jazz Department was created and directed, beginning in 1986, by Dr. Billy Taylor, and jazz figures such as Jimmy Heath, Marian McPartland and Clark Terry have taught workshops. Among the alumni of Usdan Center is jazz star Jane Monheit, who has returned to the Center to perform and teach.



Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts has also announced the final Open House date for parents and children wishing to visit the campus and to learn about the 2008 Summer Season. It will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2008; from 11 AM to 2 PM. The Center is at 185 Colonial Springs Road, Wheatley Heights, NY (Huntington area). The Open House will give prospective students and their families a chance to tour Usdan's magnificent 200-acre woodland campus in Huntington, Long Island, and obtain information on the more than 40 programs in music, dance, theater, visual arts and chess from the Usdan Center staff.
