Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned summer arts day camp whose Jazz Department was created by Dr. Billy Taylor, announces its next free Open House for its 2013 summer season on Sunday December 2 from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Artists including Jimmy Heath, Jon Faddis, Arturo O'Farrill, Randy Brecker ((Marian McPartland}} and Jane Monheit have performed and taught at the Center. Usdan, on a magnificent 200- acre woodland campus on Long Island, is attended by children ages 6-18 from New York City and throughout the Tri-State Area. There are more than 40 programs to choose from, and children are transported by air-conditioned buses.

Usdan's expanded Jazz Program for 2013 will now include three Jazz Ensembles: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, giving more personalized attention and performance opportunities.

Students can attend for three, four or seven weeks. About one third of students are on scholarship.
