Tribute to Legendary Trombonist Eddie Bert - Celebrating His 80th Birthday

On May 16, 2002 at The Town Hall, New York City, tribute will be paid to legendary trombonist Eddie Bert on the occasion of his 80th Birthday. The concert will feature Eddie Bert himself with the George Gee All-Star Jazz Orchestra under the musical direction of Walt Szymanski, and with many special guests to be announced. Noted jazz author and historian Dan Morgenstern will be the evening's host.

This will be a Town Hall homecoming for Eddie: In June of 1945 Eddie performed at the legendary Town Hall concert sponsored by the Commodore label. Eddie was also a participant at two other major Town Hall jazz events: Thelonious Monk's triumphant 1959 concert, and Charles Mingus' calamitous, self-presented event in 1962.

For the Town Hall tribute evening, the George Gee All Star Orchestra will include Lance Bryant Tenor Sax and Co-Musical Director, Charles Stephens Trombone, Eddie Pazant Alto Sax, Willard Dyson Drums, Jon Cowherd Piano, Daryl Hall Bass, Jack Jeffers Bass Trombone, Alex Harding Baritone Sax, Mark Gross Alto Sax, Derrick Gardner Trumpet, Vincent Gardner Trombone, Steve Wiseman Trumpet, Grammy Nominee Carla Cook Vocalist and many others.
