Tough Week for Smooth Jazz FM Radio!

Clear Channel owned WNUA 95.5 in Chicago & KKSF 103.7 in San Francisco had their formats changed this week.

On Monday morning, San Francisco bay area listeners were shocked to hear the sounds of “classic rock" on their radios.

Today, listeners in Chicago were greeted to the sounds of Spanish adult contemporary music.

Clear Channel executives cited less revenue generated as the reason for the change. The company has been in dire straits due to the economic slowdown and the smooth jazz format had not been generating as much advertising money as it had been over the last few years.

Both stations were in the top 10 of their respected markets and had been broadcasting smooth jazz music for nearly 20 years.
