Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers on Thursday revealed plans for a North American tour in support of their upcoming release of Mojo (Reprise), their first studio album in eight years.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour will kick off May 6 in Raleigh, NC, the beginning of a 36-city trek across the U.S. and Canada. Joe Cocker will open for the band at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 22, with a supporting act to be determined for the Heartbreakers' Madison Square Garden gig in New York on July 28.
Other guest artists along the way will include My Morning Jacket, Crosby, Stills and Nash, ZZ Top and Drive-By Truckers.
Organizers have encouraged online business by touting the inclusion with each electronic ticket of an MP3 download of every track on the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers' new LP, slated for release in the spring. As part of the online package, a selection of tracks recorded during the live dates will be delivered at the end of the tour, which wraps in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Aug. 27.
Tickets go on sale March 8 at LiveNation.com.
