The name of the “Debut"CD of Sherman Ferguson's JazzUnion was given incorrectly in the previous All About Jazz News. The correct title is: “WELCOME TO MY VISION..." Same GREAT JAZZ...Just a more accurate title,since this band was in reality the idea/concept...Vision of Sherman Ferguson's,while some had doubts.After all a group without a piano or guitar,or other harmonic instrument,places a bit of onus on the saxophonists.But as you will hear..."it's full enough" !!! I promise you will not miss ANYTHING...It is true,this has been done before,by Gerry Mulligan,Elvin Jones,Charles Mingus,just to name a few.And the 'idea'started in Sherman's mind because of the group Eddie “Lockjaw"Davis & Johnny Griffin had in the 60's,and the Charles Mingus Band with Eric Dolphy & Ted Curson and of course...Dannie Richmond,also of that vintage.But still...this is different.
