Sher Music Co. has recently released a landmark book by New York jazz heavyweight, Tim Armacost entitled The Jazz Saxophone Book. This book was written for all students of jazz, from relative beginners to professionals. For novices, Tim gives a firm foundation in jazz harmony and creative ways to work on sound, time and building a jazz vocabulary. For more advanced players, the book covers ideas for becoming a musical storyteller, the skills needed to show up at a jam session and confidently perform a tune, how to use advanced harmony to build and release tension, how to train your inner singing voice to come out of your horn and much more. The Jazz Saxophone Book also gives the reader access to over 30 videos of the author demonstrating various exercises, which themselves are full of transcribed lines by the masters of jazz saxophone.

Endorsed by some of the greatest living saxophonists: Jerry Bergonzi says, “I am on the same page with everything Tim is saying. A great book!” Bob Mintzer. “Highly recommended!" Bob Sheppard “Very clear and informative. I like it!” Jamey Aebersold “A masterpiece of valuable jazz information. A must-have book for all jazz teachers and serious students.”

The Jazz Saxophone Book is 262 pages long and is available both as a physical book and a PDF download at shermusic.com.
