Happening from January 24–26, 2025, at the College of Music, Mahidol University (Salaya Campus), this year’s event is a melting pot of innovation, diversity, and inspiration, offering audiences a fresh perspective on jazz.

A Festival for Everyone

TIJC 2025 brings a rich lineup of activities for all to enjoy. Explore the expanded Art & Craft Market, indulge in delicious food, and revel in a picturesque environment. During the day, the Oval Stage will feature free performances by talented musicians from Thailand and abroad, running from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. As night falls, the Main Stage will come alive with breathtaking performances by global jazz legends. Tickets for the evening shows are available here.

A Vision of Sustainable Happiness

Noppadol Tirataradol, Project Manager of TIJC shares the inspiration behind this year’s event: “Our goal is to create a space where everyone, regardless of background or status, can find joy through sustainable music.” This year’s festival expands its offerings with more vendors, enhanced sound systems, and food stalls, ensuring every visitor enjoys a well-rounded and memorable experience.

TIJC 2025 invites you to join in celebrating jazz in all its forms while enjoying a captivating and inclusive environment. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness one of the most dynamic jazz festivals of the year!

“This year marks the first time TIJC has embraced such diversity and innovation in music. Audiences can look forward to thrilling performances as each band brings their best to the stage,” shared the organizers. The Oval Stage will host 40–50 bands, showcasing an impressive array of talent. Additionally, sound systems and microphone setups have been upgraded to ensure the highest quality, creating a valuable learning experience for all participating musicians.

Meanwhile, the TIJC Jazz Camp, scheduled for January 20–22, 2025, offers an unparalleled opportunity for music enthusiasts to learn from world-class masters. The lineup includes the Yotam Silberstein Trio, featuring guitarist Yotam Silberstein, bassist Tamir Shmerling, and drummer Jimmy Macbride. Adding to the prestige, renowned saxophonist Ben Wendel will also share his expertise. This is a rare chance for participants to gain insights and hands-on experience directly from top-tier musicians, akin to studying jazz in New York.

Another highlight the TIJC is proud to present is the Big Band of young talents, featuring musicians aged 7–15 who have participated in our youth camp. These gifted youth will perform on the Oval Stage, with a repertoire that includes legendary pieces like Boplicity from Miles Davis' iconic Birth of the Cool album. Come and see how these young musicians bring such timeless classics to life!

The Cat Stage, on the other hand, offers an open platform for musicians to showcase their creativity, promising entertainment that rivals any other stage. There’s even a chance that a world-class artist might unexpectedly join in for an impromptu jam session!

‘TIJC is like a warm and welcoming home for jazz enthusiasts,’ shared the Project Manager. ‘This home opens its doors to musicians and audiences from around the globe, with 700 musicians from North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and China joining this year’s celebration.’

A Symphony of Cultures and Styles—Darin Pantoomkomol, the Artistic Director of TIJC and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research, shared the vision for this year’s event: “After years of working with mainstream jazz artists, it’s time to explore something fresh and diverse for our audience. This year’s lineup features a mix of mainstream jazz and fusion styles, incorporating global influences such as world music, European jazz, ethnic sounds, and Asian music, which are increasingly making their mark on the jazz scene.”

“For 16 years, TIJC has gained recognition in the global jazz community. We’ve received interest from both new and returning artists worldwide, leading to an exciting and innovative roster this year,” Darin explained.

Highlights include

  • Arshid Azarine , a French-Iranian musician, introducing Persian jazz, blending Persian melodies with European and classical jazz elements.
  • Alpha Trianguli, marking TIJC’s debut of the vibraphone—a unique instrument adding a fresh rhythmic dimension to their performance.
  • Israel Varela, a multicultural band featuring members from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Spain, and Indonesia. Their performance combines flamenco dance and jazz, a first for TIJC, with the renowned Ben Wendel on saxophone, adding inventive techniques to enrich their sound.
  • Beast Mode Trio, led by the fiery Tal Cohen, delivering high-energy performances that live up to their name.
Thai artists are also taking the stage, including:
  • Unda Alunda Chantharattanachoke, a Mahidol alumnus and award-winning guitarist who fuses jazz with rock and progressive elements, creating a signature outside guitar line style.
  • Earth Patravee Srisuntisuk, a singer-songwriter from Music Move Records, whose heartfelt compositions have captivated audiences.
With such an eclectic mix of talent, TIJC 2025 promises a groundbreaking musical journey that reflects the evolving world of jazz. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness these extraordinary artists redefine the boundaries of music!

Additionally, the embassies of Austria and France are contributing to this year’s lineup by sending jazz bands to perform at TIJC 2025.
