Tom Vincent is an original jazz stylist .
He is a captivating performer with an advanced, personal realisation of harmony and melody. Tom's primal sense of pulse overflows with an instinctive, multidimensional rhythmic feel.
Tom studied, lived and performed in New York City for three years where he was awarded an International Study Grant from the Australia Council. He has also spent over two years in Europe with performances in London, Paris and Amsterdam.
With a repertoire of over 500 standards, Tom has a solid grounding in the jazz idiom. Because he is always discovering new ideas and expanding his music in a stream of consciousness, Tom's music is exciting and draws an audience in.
In July, Tom was awarded a touring grant from Playing Australia to tour the Vincent/Meader Trio in November 2000, promoting their new CD. This three week national tour will take them through five states of Australia, appearing first at the Wangaratta International Jazz Festival .
When Tom Vincent and Marc Meader (drums) first met and played together on a gig in 1988 they immediately formed a powerful musical bond. They lock in with the same definite, energetic forward momentum swing feel, creating an unmistakable identity. Professional musicians, they have been maturing and developing steadily ever since.
