ERIC MILANO's is a New York City based singer/songwriter with a deep soulfulness and refreshing sincereity. “I have this feeling you could sing the phonebook and make it sound soulful" one reviewer enthused upon hearing his music. Comparisons to ben harper, John Mayer, Counting Crows, and Ryan Adams have all been thrown his way, but none truly describe his style. His song “Alone No More" was recently selected to be used in a radio ad campaign by the website listenerstation.com Eric has also done sound effects desgn and editing for many films and television shows including the recent academy award winner “Born Into Brothels".

SOFIA J. possesses that “special something" that endears listeners immediately. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, her singing career eventually brought her to Nashville, where she released “foreverafter" with WORD/EPIC records. After touring more than 35 states, more than 100,000 fans witnessed her gift of music. She continues collaborating with her longtime co-writer and producer, Jay Lyons and they were recent recipients of the Abe Oleman scholarship for Excellence in Songwriting. She is happy being back home in NY and is currently recording her full-length record “You Gotta Know Me" touches on so many emotions with so much talent that you simply have to hear her sing.

His workshops on music and spirituality, sound and healing and music and prophecy have been described as “mind-expanding". Seth has worked and performed with Peter Himmelman, Phillipe Saisse, Mino Cinelu, Andy Statman, Shlomo Carlebach and many other truly fine musicians and writers. This week nineteen New York CIty jazz and blues clubs have joined together to be part of a fundraising effort called “When the Saints Go Marching In". How you can assist one family in need:
As the scale of devastation continues to be absorbed, there is a member of our Songwriter's Beat family, Kismet Lyles, who has 40 family members displaced from the area. One family member is still 'missing'. Kismet's grandmother's health was severely compromised after she was stuck at the convention center along with so many other people. Kismet has started a clothing drive for one group of relatives relocating to Chicago. The clothing sizes, as well as where to send them, are listed below. As she points out, they will be needing warm clothing this winter.
I am including here a recent email from Kismet:
Dear Beloved,
All but my Great Uncle have been located. We will continue to believe he is alive and well. This past Sunday, a wonderful man from Florida called my Dad to say that he saw the info I posted on one of the missing persons' lists and wanted to let us know that my Great Aunt's best friend made it out to St. Antonio, TX, along with my Great Aunt. Once again, your prayers and focused thoughts work and the Internet is a powerful tool. Two of my cousins have already started new jobs in Houston and Atlanta. The children are pretty resilient, but at least 3 of them do not want to get on a bus ever again.
My Grandmother's health still has not been stabilized so, she has not been moved from Baton Rouge. We are hoping she will be able to fly at the end of the week. She and my Aunt will be going to Chicago, where she will be placed in a hospital and cared for by her other Daughter who resides in that city. There has been no official money allotted to those still stuck in Louisiana who want to get out (but can't afford it). Therefore, I am grateful that with your monetary donations, we can get my Grandmother and Aunt out and still afford to help the others in need. My Parents and I will be meeting them in Chicago. I can't wait to hold them.
I appreciate all of your inquiries about where to send clothing donations. I am starting to get sizes and addresses for displaced family members and will be e-mailing them as they come in. They will be needing clothes at least through the winter. And please note that only 4 out of 40 of my New Orleans family have received any support, monetary or otherwise, from FEMA.
The following group of relatives have also ended up in Chicago and will stay for a while. So, they will be needing warm clothing.

The amount of information on how to help and where to send items is growing. The Children's Music Network has members in the South who are currently involved with assisting relocated people, collecting music CD's, instruments, CD players both for arts therapy and for the shelters. There are addresses to send supplies. You can buy a plane ticket to reunite family members, or donate your frequent flier miles. There is an arts therapy movement in the Philadelphia area for relocated children and adults. There is a veterinarian's list of supplies you can send to assist animal care and veterinary hospitals in the South. You can offer room in your home - if you have room - to someone who needs a place to live. Of course as you already know you can donate to a number of disaster relief organizations.
Rather than forward all this information in email - we all get too much email these days - I will be compiling a list and will post it on The Songwriter's Beat website. I'll let you know when it is online.
