The Four Freshmen kick of the Jazz Ambassadors' Concert Series at the Downtown Marriott Hotel. UMKC features Jazz and Barbecue featuring Bobby Watson and the UMKC Jazz Concert Ensemble. The Blue Room jams with the Jazz Disciples. Jardine's features the Gig Dogs. The Majestic Steakhouse downtown features the Julie Turner Trio. And, at The Fairmont Hotel it's David Basse.
Tuesday, September 20
Harlings' Upstairs features the Kansas City Boulevard Big Band. Jardine's features the Danny Embrey Trio. The Phoenix has the Everette DeVan Trio jam session. Majestic Steakhouse has Joe Cartwright with Duck Warner. The Fairmont Hotel features the Laura Chalk in the Oak Room. Boozefish features the New Soul Jazz Combo.

Jardines features Stan Kessler's TV. The Phoenix has the Joe Roberts Band. Majestic Steakhouse downtown features Joe Cartwright at the piano with Duck Warner. Out South at EBT it's Candace Evans on vocals and piano. The Fairmont Hotel's Oak Room features Laura Chalk.

Get jazzed on the Zona Rosa Square with the Bill Crain Quartet. The Blue Room features the Sons of Brasil. The Phoenix features the Lori Tucker with Tim Whitmer. Ivy's up north has Candace Evans. The Peach Tree has Luqman Hamza. Jardine's features the Joe Cartwright Trio. The Fairmont has yours truly David Basse. The Majestic Steakhouse at 10 th and Broadway has the Julie Turner Trio. At EBT out South, it's the Noel Scott / Don Warner Jazz Duo.
ON THE WEEKEND ...
The Plaza Art Fair this weekend features a line-up of musicians including Stan Kessler, Max Groove, Kerry Strayer with Lisa Henry and more. Kevin Mahogany comes to town to jam at the Recovery Jazz Jam Sunday evening at the Majestic Steakhouse. The City Light Orchestra with Ahmad Alaadeen will perform at the Ironwoods Park Concert Series at 147 & Mission Rd.
For some great Saturday afternoon jam sessions, hit Harling's Upstairs hosted by Mama Ray, Jardine's hosted by Tommy Ruskin's. OH! And for a true slice of Kansas City jazz it's the KC Tradition The Mutual Musician's Foundation's eye-opening late night jazz jam session, starting round about midnight each weekend night.
The Fairmont hotel features Joe Cartwright throughout the weekend and with special guest vocalist Duck Warner for Sunday's Best of Kansas City Jazz series.
Café Trio has Alice Jenkins. Bobby's Hangout has Everette Devan late Friday and Saturday night.
Cascone's in Overland Park has Jim Mair and Mike Ning on Friday and on Saturday vocalist Duck Warner joins the duo. EBT Out South has the Noel Scott / Don Warner Jazz Duo, and The Piano Room features the Kevin Cloud Trio.
At Cascone's up north, it's Andy Masters and Lonnie McFadden. Ophelia's in Independence has Skip Hawkins. Trouser Mouse in Blue Springs features Angela Hagenbach.
At the Phoenix , Tim Whitmer start out the evening and the Dan Doran Band closes it down while on Saturday night it's the Scamps followed by Mark Montgomery & Friends. The Majestic has Hal Melia with Julie Turner and Tommy Ruskin. Kabal at the City Market has Max Groove.
The Blue Room features Ida McBeth on Friday, while on Saturday it's Horace Washington. The Peach Tree features Everette DeVan with Eboni Fondren on Friday and on Saturday it's Laura Chalk. High a top Crown Center Benton's features Stephanie Laws with the Wayne Hawkins Trio on Friday and with the Joe Parisi Jazz Quartet on Saturday.
Jardine's starts off Friday with Angela Hagenbach and closes with a midnight jam hosted by Dan Thomas. On Saturday Ida McBeth takes to the stage followed by Rob Whitsitt. On Sunday, it's jazz brunch with Tim Whitmer followed by two evening performances by the Wild Women of Kansas City.
Copelands of New Orleans has Copeland's Jazz Trio. The Bristol has the John Doubleday trio. Capital Grille has Tim Whitmer. The Majestic downtown has Billy Meynier and Wes Knowles hosting the Recovery Jazz Jam with Kevin Mahogany.

Tues., September 6th : No Music: Labor Day Weekend!
Tues., September 13th : “Mark Lowrey Trio”: The Mark Lowrey Trio is a modern jazz ensemble performing originals as well as jazz standards and Cuban and Brazilian music. Called “high energy" and “progressive" the trio often has guest artists such as Pablo Sanhueza and Mark Sutherland.
Tues., Sept. 20th : “ New Soul Jazz Combo": Combines the best of traditional jazz with modern soul flavor. This trio is faithful and true to the music with an adventurous spirit.
Wed., Sept. 28th (9 to Midnight) : “Brian Hicks and Friends”: “I am not trying to reinvent the wheel. I take a tremendous amount of pleasure in finding songs that touch me in a special way. Whether they be rarely heard songs from the early 20th century or more contemporary compositions, my group tries to perform the music which touches our hearts with honesty, sincerity and skill.”
