The Beatles’ ‘REVOLVER’ to be Re-Created in Concert, Note-for-Note, by The Fab Faux
One of the Greatest Rock Albums of All Time, Performed From Start-to-Finish, September 12th at The Beacon in NYC
The Beatles' REVOLVER will be performed live, in its entirety, by The Fab Faux, at The Beacon in NYC on September 12th. A harbinger of the psychedelic era, ‘Revolver’ included such landmark tracks as ‘Yellow Submarine’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’, and is often regarded as The Beatles’ best studio album (perhaps matched only by ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’,) and arguably one of the greatest rock albums of all time. The album was never performed live by The Beatles.
For those of us who never got to see The Beatles in concert, we're fortunate to have five of the best musicians around – The Fab Faux – dedicate themselves to faithfully recreating some of the most extraordinary music ever written. The Fab Faux brings together the talents of five of New York's most respected musicians: Will Lee of Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Vivino of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Rich Pagano, who has performed with Rosanne Cash and Ray Davies, Jack Petruzzelli, who has toured and recorded with Joan Osborne, Patti Smith and Rufus Wainwright, and Frank Agnello, whose musical credits include Phoebe Snow, Marshall Crenshaw and Joey Molland of Badfinger. At the September 12th concert, following their recreation of REVOLVER, The Fab Faux will perform a second set, with songs determined by fans. The Beacon show will be produced by New York promoter, Bowery Presents. In addition to the core Fab Faux band, the evening will feature the world-renowned Hogshead Horns, The Creme Tangerine Strings and harpist, Erin Hill. There will be a multimedia element as well, with projections and visuals presented on stage.
The Fab Faux’s last visit to The Beacon was their sold-out Sgt. Pepper's concert. The band followed-up that success by celebrating their 10th Anniversary with a sold-out concert at New York's legendary Radio City Music Hall, and delivering a 36-song marathon performance that began with 'Magical Mystery Tour' and ended three hours later with 'Hey Jude' -- with the audience of more than 6,000 people on its feet. Their 10th Anniversary 'Psychedelia!' concert was The Fab Faux's largest headlining concert ever, their largest- ever sold out concert, and their largest NY concert-to-date as well.
The Fab Faux are now in a league of their own, consistently performing music that The Beatles themselves never played live. Beginning with a pair of concerts at Webster Hall in late ‘07, the band has reached a new level of fan support as well as media awareness, with growing coverage including ABC-TV World News Tonight with Charles Gibson, NPR, Rolling Stone, Associated Press, Reuters Newswire, NY-1 News, The New York Times, NY Post, New Yorker, NY Sun, Hollywood Reporter, Time Out NY, Washington Post, The Nation and much more. An NPR Morning Edition segment praised the group as a “Collective that's about attention to detail." After years of working behind the scenes to make extraordinary music for and with some of the industry's most revered artists, Pagano decided it was time to work on a record of his own. Pagano is known for his expertise in producing, recording or playing drums live, with artists including Patti Smith, Rosanne Cash, Robbie Robertson, Ray Davies, Willie Nile, gospel icon Marie Knight, Joan Osborne, Levon Helm, Mott The Hoople legend Ian Hunter and of course The Fab Faux, among others. Now, he steps into the spotlight with his solo debut 'Rich Pagano and the SugarCane Cups', a classic influenced rock and roll record of angst and escapism that aims to, in his words, “take listeners along a journey of being pissed off at politicians, moving on from comforts and codependencies, suicidal thoughts, society's extreme need for distraction, love's transformations and religious freedom." Rounding out the line-up are lead-singing drummer/producer Rich Pagano (Rosanne Cash, Patti Smith, Ray Davies, etc.), guitarist Frank Agnello (Marshall Crenshaw, Phoebe Snow, etc.) and ace keyboardist/guitarist Jack Petruzzelli (Joan Osborne Band, Rufus Wainwright).
