The Black Entertainment and Music Association 2008 Jazz Awards at The Clef Club in Philadelphia

The Black Entertainment & Music Association (BEMA) and The Clef Club are proud to present the “First Jazz Awards Series" program, to be held Saturday evening, June 28th, 2008 (Black Music Month) in Philadelphia, Pa. at The Clef Club, Broad and Fitzwater Streets. BEMA, and The Clef Club, will be honoring and saluting some of Philadelphia's living legends, pioneers, and supporters of jazz music. Buffet dinner will be served at 6pm followed by the Awards Program and entertainment at 7pm.

The featured honorees are: Tony Williams, Pearl Williams, Charles Fambrough, Barbara Walker, Lucky Thompson, Val Ray, Bob Perkins, Salimah Omar, Thelma Anderson and Harrison Ridley, Jr. Also included, are recognitions to WRTI-FM, WJJZ-FM and JazzTimes Magazine. An introductory and historical compilation of video footage highlighting the background of the honorees will preface the event. There will be live jazz music and special guest artists.

This event is fundraiser to assist The Clef Club in its continued development. Tickets for this event are $50pp for non-BEMA members and $45pp for members. Tickets will be available at The Clef Club, the BEMA office and online at bemanow.org as of Tuesday, May 13th. For more information, call 215-545-5850.
