May 3, 2001 -- Philadelphia, PA, The Arpeggio Jazz and Music Ensemble will begin their Po/Jazz Connection Tour on Monday, June 4, 2001 at Brave New World, 720 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA at 7 p.m. The tour will continue to Tampa on June 23rd, where they will perform a solo concert at the Falk Theatre, hosted by WMNF-FM Radio. The Po/Jazz Connection showcases a featured poet who performs intermittently throughout the evening, and an open mic forum which encourages other poets in attendance to present their work while AJME weaves their intruments throughout the poetry to create live “on the spot" original music.

“Poetry and music live and breathe together in the Po/Jazz Connection," said Warren Oree, leader and bassist of Arpeggio Jazz and Music Ensemble, and the brainchild of the Po/Jazz Connection. “It breathes life into storytelling and brings together two dynamic but underrated art forms - poetry and jazz."

The Arpeggio Jazz and Music Ensemble has appeared throughout the United States and several international jazz festivals including the North Sea Festival in Holland and a solo concert in Bahia Brazil. Warren Oree has appeared with Wynton Marsalis, Basso Nouveaux, Khan Jamal, Monette Sudler, Odean Pope and others. The AJME has published various CDs: Slo/Burn, The Po/Jazz Connection: Live at Brave New World, and Behind the Mountain Wall (Silk Skin); Zanzibar Blue (Sosa) and Moving Through The Dream, a collaboration with Australian label, Harmony Image.
