Telluride, CO - The Town of Telluride on October 3, 2007 approved a date change for the annual Telluride Jazz Celebration (TJC), which will take place June 5-8, 2008 and kick off the town's annual summer music festival season. The jazz festival, which had been produced each year during the first weekend in August since its debut in 1977, will now coincide with the annual Telluride Hot Air Balloon Festival. Telluride will be celebrating “Jazz in June with Balloons" in 2008 as the 32nd Annual Telluride Jazz Celebration and the 25th Annual Telluride Hot Air Balloon Festival fill the air with colorful sights and sounds.

“The new June date for Telluride Jazz creates a great opportunity to kick off our town's summer music activities with the mountains coming alive with bright green aspens, colorful balloons and world class music," Telluride Society for Jazz Executive Director Paul Machado said.

“What a full weekend of activities Telluride will have this coming June," Marilyn Branch, chair of the Balloon Festival, added. “We'll have airborne balloons early in the morning, jazz all day, and even more jazz to complement the Main Street GLO on Saturday evening. What an exciting way to launch our series of summer festivals."

Since 1977, Telluride's majestic perch - high in the spectacular San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado has been the site of a musical odyssey combining the finest of nature and art. Each year the Telluride Society for Jazz produces one of the most memorable festivals in the world. Its intimate format and many opportunities for enjoying spectacular mountain activities complement the superb music. Combining outdoor stages during the day with theater and club shows running at night, this festival has the best of both worlds.

The Telluride Jazz Celebration is presented by No Wasted Notes and also presented by Raynier Institute & Foundation, Mountain Village Owners Association, US Bank of Telluride and Subaru of America.
