Sydney Jazz Band to perform at The Hills Relay for Life for aid to cancer victims

Viva the band will be appearing at the Relay for Life event on Saturday the 20th May at 1.30pm. The band was referred for their appearance by Gareth Mc Cray a popular radio announcer at Radio 2CH.

The Relay For Life is an event where teams of 10 top 15 people take turns to walk or run around a local sports oval to raise funds for cancer research, education, support services and advocacy.

Viva the band will be donating 100 of their CD's “By Request" to the organizers as well as performing for the event.

Viva the band is well known in Sydney for their regular appearances at South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Settlers Arms Inn at St Albans. The band is very popular and regularly perform their special music at parties and functions, they also perform at music festivals at: Newcastle, Morpeth, Central coast, Manly, Gold Coast, Thredbo, Kiama, Illawarra, Jazz in the City at QVB, Sydney Olympic Park and Darling Harbour.

The band members have performed extensively overseas including: Japan, Thailand, Guam, The Philippines, Sth.Vietnam and France, recently the band performed at the Tainan International Chihsi Arts Festival in Taiwan (August 2004) and the Kenting Song Festival in Taiwan (July 2005).

Viva the band produce music that is authentic and heavily influenced by their diverse musical experiences, for instance, the band perform some music they developed during their tour of France in 2000, and the listener can easily imagine that they are listening to a Parisian cafe band. The band perform a mixture of Jazz, Swing, Gypsy Jazz, Latin , Salsa, French, Spanish and classic show tunes.
