Strong Line-up Opens Jamaica International Ocho Rios Jazz Festival

A strong line-up of vocalists, instrumentalists mark the opening of the 20th Anniversary of the Ocho Rios International Jazz Festival beginning this Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 6:00 pm in the verdant gardens of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

The across-the-island week of jazz in tribute to Festival founder the late Cecil “Sonny" Bradshaw, will seed arguably the best crop of jazz musicians every to flower on the hotel green.

The Desi Jones Trio are the main guys surrounding the ladies of songs and instrument. Add the suave of two gentlemen, the popular pianist from Ocho Rios Andre Campbell and Trinidad born Trumpeter Etienne Charles, an alumnus of the prestigious Juilliard School and newly acclaimed trumpeter, and collectively is a strong line-up to open Jamaica's 'real jazz' festival.

The ladies set to bloom in the Pegasus gardens are Canadian Singer Kiralina, known to weave raw jazz interpretations into her repertoire, Lila, a seasoned, professional multi-instrumentalist whose dedication to her craft is shown through her musical expression, compositions, and enthusiastic performances.

Jazz vocalist and composer Carmen Lundy celebrated throughout the world for her vocal artistry and is highly regarded for her jazz innovation. And, composer, bandleader, vocalist and trumpeter extraordinaire Ginetta's Vendetta who has been deemed one of the brightest stars to emerge on the jazz scene today.
