Concord Jazz is proud to announce that vibraphonist-composer, Stefon Harris, has signed an exclusive recording contract with the label. The GRAMMY nominated musician has been hailed as one of the most important young artists in jazz (Los Angeles Times), and is widely recognized by both peers and critics alike for his innovative compositions, blazing new paths on the vibraphone and marimba. Harris Concord debut is scheduled to be released in late 2009.

Harris passion, talent and energetic stage presence have propelled him into the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene. He has received three GRAMMY nominations, is a recipient of the prestigious Martin E. Segal Award from Lincoln Center, was voted the Debut Artist of the Year by Jazz Times and has been named Downbeat's Critics Poll Winner for Vibraphone and Rising Star, among receiving numerous other accolades.

On his first Concord outing, Harris will be joined by his current band, Blackout, which features a fusion of acoustic music and progressive sounds. Harris debuted Blackout with the 2004 CD Evolution, and the project has been praised for “pursuing jazz on its own terms" by the Washington Post. The band includes Marc Cary on keyboards, Ben Williams on bass, Terreon Gully on drums and Casey Benjamin on alto sax.

Harris last recording, African Tarantella, was released in 2006 to critical acclaim. His 2003 collection, The Grand Unification Theory, which is an eleven movement piece featuring Latin, African, classical and jazz influences, received a GRAMMY nomination, a JAZZIZ Critics Choice award and 4 star reviews from Downbeat, Rolling Stone and The Los Angeles Times. Chris Dunn, Senior Director A&R Concord Jazz, commented, We couldn't be more honored that Stefon has teamed with Concord to continue what will no doubt be a long and extraordinary career. We look forward to an incredibly rewarding relationship.
