Stan Kenton Tribute Event on June 5-6 at Pasadena City College

Steven D. Harris, author of The Kenton Kronicles presents a 2-day tribute to the jazz great, pianist and bandleader Stan Kenton. In attendance will be original bassist Howard Rumsey, Jo Ann Kenton (Stan's last wife) and Jean Kenton (Stan's sister and oldest surviving relative who is now 90 years old) among other noted alumni.

Saturday, June 5 @ 7-10:30 pm: “Artistry in Kenton"
3-part tribute to Stan Kenton featuring panel discussion, rare vintage films and alumni jam session. Musical guests include Carl Saunders, Don Bagley,
Bill Trujillo, Tony Scodwell, Gary Hobbs and others.

Where: The Forum at Pasadena City College, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd.
Cost: $30 for adults, $20 for students with I.D.

Sunday, June 6 @ 2-7 pm: Kenton Clan concert
featuring 24-piece alumni mellophonium orchestra.

Program is titled More Mellophonium Magic, featuring musicians Buddy Childers, Carl Saunders, Jack Costanzo, Med Flory, Dave Stone, Steve Huffsteter, Gary LeFebvre, Mike Vax, Gary Hobbs and others.

Where: Holiday Inn Ballroom, 924 W. Huntington Dr., Monrovia
Cost: $40 per person / $60 with lunch. $10 off for students with I.D.
