Live music database Songkick has partnered with Vevo and YouTube; fans browsing for music videos will now be automatically updated about shows happening in their area. I'd like to think I keep pretty good tabs on the local music scene and even I was surprised to see a few concerts listed that I had missed.
It's a no frills, text-based listing, but for as long as it drives fan awareness, this should prove to be helpful for concert promoters.
“When we started Songkick, our goal was to make it easier to find out about shows," says Ian Hogarth. And, with this new partnership, added with Hype Machine, Songbird, We Are Hunted and Grooveshark, they will achieve just that.
