The Skipp Pearson Jazz Foundation, a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), human services organization crafted to support senior musicians and vocalist in need is seeking monetary support to ensure the survival of all programming.

More than any other age group, senior jazz players and performers suffered the on-going negative effect of COVID-19. During the height of the “global" pandemic the Foundation suffered the human loss of 91 artists.

It may be of interest to know, the Foundation supported 57 artists through COVID-19. Beyond the complete breakdown of the national live performance structure, many of these amazing performers are still dealing with not only the loss of their weekly financial support but, the ability to keep together their often haphazard living and working environments. It is tragic that many of these individuals help makeup the bedrock of jazz music.

In addition to these challenges, the Foundation is fighting against being evicted from our office and performance space. We do have a wonderful attorney. Our fear is the initial retainer rendered is running out. The loss of this defense will mean the loss of our ability to continue to make the difference.

The dedicated team of volunteers of the Foundation are appealing to the jazz community for immediate monetary support. The Foundation is attempting to raise twenty-five thousand dollars before Friday August 26th. Just 200 musicians donating $125 will help us meet the goal.
