Serbia proves to be a fertile gound for Guitarist Rale Micic

CTA Records has released a new album by guitarist and composer Rale Micic entitled Serbia. In this much-anticipated follow up to his 2003 debut Bridges, Micic establishes himself as one of the most inventive voices on the music scene today. With support from the trumpet great Tom Harrell, music just seems to unfold, grounded in Micic's vision.

Bursting with new ideas, this young guitarist has created music that sounds fresh and expressive. Noted jazz critic Glenn Astarita calls Micic “an idea man whose solid chops complement his seemingly extensive knowledge of the jazz vernacular ... he possesses a dark yet warm tone and is masterful when comping behind Harrell".

From the solo guitar's rendition of the traditional Serbian song “Dimitrije, Sine Mitre", to the swift “Lucky Number," and “Serbia" written in 7/8 rhythmic meter, the music breathes deeply. Serbia, so titled for Rale's homeland, becomes a journey around the globe, as the composer and guitarist shares his unique vision and experiences from a life devoted to music.
