Seattle's 20th annual Earshot Jazz Festival will present more than 50 events in concert halls, clubs and community centers throughout the city beginning Oct. 17 and continuing through Nov. 8.
The Earshot Festival brings artists from around the world into creative collaboration with area audiences and Seattle's finest jazz musicians to celebrate Seattle's place in the jazz world. Featured events include James Moody and the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra in a 4-day residency of oral history interviews, educational programs and concerts; a dance party with Funk saxophonist Maceo Parker; a collaboration with the Langston Hughes Cultural Center to present panel discussions about trends and issues and jazz; and performances by Cecil Taylor, Ravi Coltrane, Marilyn Crispell, Simonne and others.
