Ronald Wayne's new release “Old School” is the third song and is part of his year-long nonstop instrumental smooth jazz music releases that will become the album Hotter Than The Sun this November.

“Old School” is a representation of traditional sounds of instrumental smooth jazz, which was inspired by morning walks in his hometown of Myrtle Beach.
Ronald explains, “Sometimes song ideas arise with the sun while walking on the beach. Old School (not my old school, but old time mellow) happened during my ‘magic hour’ at 5:30-6:00 AM on Myrtle Beach on any day that is under 80 degrees. This particular morning was nostalgic, the waters were calm, the fish were feeding, and the sun was rising in an orange sky. It appeared that mellow was the word for the day and I thought, ‘I need to do something old and mellow.’ Old School was born.”
Ronald continues, “Once back in the studio, it started with a laid-back bass line. An acoustic bass line appeared mimicking the small waves rolling ashore. Drums follow with a beat, not too fast or hard. From there the piano leads paint the picture of the sun rising in the water nearly shrouded in orange clouds. Various birds soaring, diving, and some just stationary in the sky, beak pointed towards the small fish they see below. All represented by a mellow horn section.”
He also added, “There is no special instrumentation, sounds, or choirs in this song, just basic jazz band players. The reality is that without the stimulation of the walk on the beach, or something like it, you can sit at the keyboard, blank with ideas. Most of the time, that little walk sets the whole picture into motion, and keeps the struggle for fresh ideas an easier road to go down. This method for songwriting never gets old (school) for me!”
