Rob Scheps awarded prestigious Helene Wurlitzer Fellowship in Compostion for 2004

Rob Scheps, saxophonist and composer based in Portland, Oregon has been awarded an extended fellowship from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico.Given to a select number of international artists in various disciplines, the Wurlitzer fellowship will allow Scheps to compose for an extended period in Taos, New Mexico in 2004.

Scheps continues to lead The Rob Scheps 16 Piece Big Band, Salon des Refuses, and the Rob Scheps Core-tet, all based in Portland; and Magnets!, a bi-coastal quartet with NY musicians Kim Clarke and Ronnie Burrage. Scheps will continue to compose for all of these ensembles.
