David Berger: Such Sweet Thunder Music recently released David Berger's new recording I Had The Craziest Dream: The Music of Harry Warren". This recording, Berger's first album with his Octet, is a joyful homage to Harry Warren, a classic American songwriter whose songs are better known than he is. The CD features two of the world's great jazz saxophonists and interpreters of standards, Harry Allen (tenor) and Joe Temperley (baritone); plus Matt Hong (reeds), Brian Fletch" Pareschi (trumpet), Marshall Gilkes (trombone), Isaac ben Ayala (piano), Yasushi Nakamura (bass) and Jimmy Madison (drums).

Avishai Cohen: Anzic Records proudly releases Flood (October 28 release), part two of the Big Rain Trilogy, from trumpeter Avishai Cohen. This recording is an instrumental meditation beginning from two notes, painting the circles of the sun and the moon and, in between them, the rain. The point of view is of Nature, which neither wails over nor resists the rain, but rather accepts it as part of itself. Juan Miro's Birth Of The World" was one of the inspirations for this music. Featuring Avishai Cohen (trumpet), Yonatan Avishai (piano) and Daniel Friedman (percussion). Get a sneak preview of Flood here.
SEVEN - A Visual Journey of Light as a Symbol of Time, By Elinor Milchan
Innovative Public Video Installation To Debut In Former New Times Building - Opening, fall 2008, MUSIC BY AVISHAI COHEN To be installed in the lobby of the soon-to-open Times Square Building, formerly home of the New York Times newspaper for 95 years, SEVEN, an innovative public art project conceived by artist Elinor Milchan, is a multi-screen video installation that celebrates light and the seven colors of the visible spectrum.
The installation will go on view in September 2008 and will remain at the location permanently. Shown on 2 large format LED screens, the videos will run 24/7, 365 days a year. Milchan approached Avishai Cohen, one of the most renowned musicians on the international jazz scene, to compose the musical score for SEVEN. Like the video, Cohen's sounds for SEVEN evolve through the changing tones and movement.This music will be available for download purchase exclusively at The Anzic Records Store in September 2008.
