Ran Blake: The Music of Chris Connor
August 8, 10, 12, 14, 16: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Special public evening: Tuesday, August 14, 6:30 p.m. St. Botolph Hall, Free

In his annual summer seminar, NEC college faculty member and MacArthur Fellow Ran Blake focuses his attention on Chris Connor, arguably one of the most idiosyncratic “white stylists" in jazz singing; with her husky timbre and long expressive phrases, Connor remains one of jazz's most nontraditional musicians. Ran Blake's one-week summer institute on the musical stylings of Chris Connor includes a public evening of reminiscences, discussion, recordings, and performances celebrating this extraordinary singer.
