Radio Show Broadcasts Great Music, Positive Talk
CONCORD, NH -- August 18, 2005 -- Micah Rubenstein is passionate about music. After all, he was a music professor for 14 years before leaving academia for life in the world of publishing. A born teacher, Rubenstein has combined his love for music with his classical education in “The Message In Music,” a weekly, hour-long radio series he both produces and hosts that offers “great music … positive talk … a search for meaning.”
Former US senator Gordon Humphrey, owner of WKXL-1450 AM in Concord, NH, believes in the powerful, positive message of Rubenstein’s show and contracted to broadcast the series starting in May 2005.
The show features a wide variety of musical styles, including jazz, classical, musical theatre, popular and world music. Each tune is selected in accordance with a chosen theme, such as “Paradise,” “Marriage,” “Recognition,” “The Quest” and “Water.” Rubenstein alternates music with talk, treating each theme with insight and humor. The result is an entertaining, as well as educational, listening experience.
“Music is an expression of the human spirit. Beyond my own predisposition of looking for the ‘inner life’ in a piece of music, I’m aware of a growing number of music lovers who are equally intrigued,” said Rubenstein. “People are realizing that having a successful career, raising a family and establishing material security isn’t enough. Something’s missing -- that something is meaning in their lives.”
Rubenstein emphasizes, “Music has a message, if you know how to listen for it. That’s the magic I want listeners of ‘The Message In Music’ to discover. In the end, if it touches your spirit, that is what I’m after.”
Listeners can hear “The Message In Music” streamed over the Internet Saturday mornings at 11:00 AM EST, at www.WKXL1450.com or visit the program’s website, www.TheMessageInMusic.com, where the weekly shows are archived.
