QUINCY COLEMAN JOINS KATE WALSH AND BRANDI SHEARER ON THE AMOEBA MUSIC SPRING TOUR

Starting May 12 in Portland and closing June 3 in Denver, tour includes a benefit for multiple sclerosis in Los Angeles on May 16

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Quincy Coleman, the singer/songwriter cited by American Songwriter magazine for her “gorgeous voice" and “undeniably catchy" songs, will join fellow artists Kate Walsh and Brandi Shearer as part of the Amoeba Music Spring Tour. The tour will launch in Portland on May 12 and will cover the East Coast, Midwest and South through its June 3 finale in Denver.

Coleman, who has toured the past two years to promote her indie Come Closer album, has been seen twice on “Last Call With Carson Daly, “ with a third appearance scheduled. She was heard in last year's Fox Searchlight film Waitress with “Give It Away" from her Also Known As Mary album, and her song “Afraid" was on the soundtrack of the Academy Award-winning film Crash. A Coca Cola and Paste magazine “Artist of the Month" in February 2007, her music can be heard in 5, 000 Starbucks locations across North America as well as XM's Hear Music and XM Caf channels. She has been featured and reviewed in the pages of Paste, Performing Songwriter, American Songwriter, Venice, Skope and Harp, and has sold out shows at Joe's Pub in New York as well as Hotel Caf and Largo in Los Angeles.

In February of this year, the documentary Quincy Coleman: It's All In the Song had its premier at the Cinequest Film Festival. Directed by Jaime Gomez, it portrays a day in the life of an up and coming singer/songwriter and the triumphs and struggles she encounters.

Born into a family of performers (her dad is Golden Globe winner Dabney Coleman, her mom is model/actress Jean Hale Coleman, and her brother Randy has toured with Def Leppard), Quincy pursued entertainment dreams throughout high school and college.

After flirting with acting in New York, she did the college student thing and headed for Europe, busking in France and England. Back home in L.A., she recorded her self-released debut album, Also Known As Mary. The album caught the ear of KCRW's Nic Harcourt, host of the world-famous “Morning Becomes Eclectic" program. Harcourt chose her as one of four artists showcased on KCRW's “Next Up" show at the Santa Monica Pier.

Amoeba Music, known for its street-smart presentation of music in its San Francisco and Los Angeles stores through CDs, videos, vinyl and live performances (including a visit by Paul McCartney last year), decided to take some good music on the road across America this spring.

Tour headliner Kate Walsh, the British singer/songwriter with a hot current album titled Tim's House, recently appeared on “Late Night With Conan O'Brien, “ “CBS Early Show" and other national programs. And tour mate Brandi Shearer, whom Variety described as having “more than a touch of Janis Joplin heft . . . ready to cut loose and start smashing furniture, “ is promoting her album Close To Dark on the Amoeba Music label. Walsh, Shearer and Coleman appeared together recently at SXSW to preview the tour.

Amoeba will offer free downloads of music by the three performers at its web site, Amoeba.com.
