Quartet of Prof. Sandy Williams Delivers 'Jazz at the Duck' Thursday

Sandy Williams, guitarist and instructor in the DePauw University School of Music, will perform a free concert on Thursday February 5, as part of the DePauw Jazz at the Duck series. The music begins at 9 p.m. at Walden Inn’s Fluttering Duck.

A Greencastle native and accomplished studio musician based in Indianapolis, Williams is a versatile musician active in the city’s growing recording industry. This incarnation of his quartet features bassist and series organizer Paul Musser (who is also a member of the DePauw School of Music faculty), distinguished Indy drummer Arthur Reiner, and saxophonist Gabriel Yonkler ’09.

Forwalden inn front.jpg its performance at the Duck, Williams’ quartet will focus on the music of saxophonist Benny Golson. A member of such classic ensembles as Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and the Jazztet, Golson composed memorable tunes including Stable Mates, Killer Joe, and Whisper Not.
