The Primordial Jazz Funktet was formed in Atlanta, GA in 2002. The quintet plays original music that brings today's hip-hop, funk and jazz rhythms together with top New York jazz players. “The music is intense, but we always make it groove," says pianist Dan Furman, who brought the group to New York in 2004.

The Primordial Jazz Funktet will premiere in New York at K'av'eh'az on Sunday, March 7 from 8pm to 11 and will feature tenor saxophonist Joel Frahm and trumpeter Lee Hogans, along with Dan Furman, piano, Alex Hernandez, bass and Corey Rawls, drums.
