He received his jazz education hanging out on 52nd St. and attending festivals at Newport, Colorado and Monterey. Guests at his home have been the big three, Ella, Sarah and Carmen as well as Diz, Gerry Mulligan and many more American jazz greats who have visited New Zealand.
