Portraits of Duke, Bird, Diz and Miles by Dr. Alastair Bourne

The original artwork of alto saxophone master, Dr. Alastair Bourne, New Zealand is viewable at www.mewbird.blogspot. A friend of the great Alan Broadbent, Dr.Bourne's portraits of Duke, Diz, Bird and Miles are true treasures.

His love for the music and for the artists are exemplified in his paintings.

Dr. Bourne became a bebop master in his native England before relocating to New Zealand. He received his jazz education hanging out on 52nd St. and attending festivals at Newport, Colorado and Monterey. Guests at his home have been the big three, Ella, Sarah and Carmen as well as Diz, Gerry Mulligan and many more American jazz greats who have visited New Zealand.

JazzBird is proud to present the finest in Jazz Art and Music.

Besides Dr. Bourne's paintings there are works from the great Phillip Klaus who painted and photograped Diz, Miles, Satch, Chet, Monk, Sonny Rollins and many more.

There is also a painting of John Coltrane from WILD ABOUT MUSIC, Santa Monica.
