Greetings folks,

As a musician, someone introduced you to the music... to your instrument. Remember that moment? Remember that person? Remember how you felt? Now, suppose that it never happened!

That's the kind of environment that increasing numbers of young people face living in within our communities. Schools are not really making that connection between musician and child possible anymore. Many communities aren't really making that connection happen either.

Philadelphia Jazz Project in partnership with other organizations, including Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is developing a plan to fill the gap. We are looking for Jazz musicians willing and interested in introducing young people to the music. The young people will range from 6 to 17 years of age. The activities will take place during after-school hours from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. This is not volunteer work. We want your best. All participating musicians will be paid for their time.

If you are interested or have any questions, please contact us at: [email protected] If you're unable to take part in this initiative, please share this page.

Thanks.
