one of the best CDs of 2004? I'll say yes. – Paul Olson (allaboutjazz.com)
Drummer/band leader Pete Zimmer makes an impressive debut on “Common Man" - Philadelphia Daily News (9/7/04)
Zimmer wrote six of the nine titles on this impressive disc, demonstrating that he is one of the most talented composers to ever sit behind a drum kit. - afroamericansyndicate.com
Peter's CD is filled with compelling music and like all my favorite CD's, it demands you to listen to it. - Jerry Bergonzi
An uncommonly strong disc. Steve Koenig Editor, JumpArtsJournal.org
Bravo for your album (Common Man). Beautiful concept, writing and playing ... nice recording, too. I enjoyed listening to it. - Peter Erskine
Pete Zimmer is a take-charge drummer and he is ably complemented by alternating pianists Toru Dodo and Rick Germanson, bassist John Sullivan, tenor saxophonist Joel Frahm and trumpeter Michael Rodriguez. The repertoire on this fiery session consists almost entirely of originals by Pete that draw upon the special talents of the group's individualistic members. - Bruce Crowther's (swing2bop.org)
This fine CD project is anything but “common." - George W. Carroll (jazzreview.com)
