With the release of their debut CD Otis Grove marks its first milestone in an evolving musical collaboration, which began just a few years ago. At its core Sam Gilman (Organ and Keys), Matt Fitz-Henry (Acoustic/Electric Basses), and Blake Goedde (Drums/Percussion), have taken a unique approach to trio playing.

“Otis Grove has already cultivated what seems to be a perfect balance of composition and improvisation; jazz harmonies and hip-hop grooves; individual expression and group interplay." -Wilton Elder (radioioJam).

This release features a mix of acoustic and electric groove, and shifts between extended improvisation and more orchestrated composition. To top things off the trio is joined by acid jazz pioneer Melvin Sparks on 4 of the 11 tracks. “You'll be surprised at what you hear from these three" says Kenwood Dennard.

“So I open up this package, put this disc in the player and this stuff comes out that just hits me where I live! What else could I do but put it on XM's Beyond Jazz to blow everybody else's mind?!"

--Russ Davis, Beyond Jazz XM Radio
