TULSA: Jazz legend Chet Baker will be honored by musicians from his native state on Saturday July 2, 2005 in a “Chet Baker Tribute Concert” to benefit The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. The benefit event will be held at The Tidal School Winery in Drumright, Oklahoma (www.tidalschool.com) located 5 miles from Baker’s hometown of Yale. The event is scheduled from 10am- 8pm with musicians from a variety of genres playing in honor of the Oklahoma jazz great. Both indoor (air conditioned) and outdoor venues will run continuous entertainment.

In the banquet room of the winery it will be all-jazz all-day with a variety of acts scheduled to perform including musicians who worked with Chet during his career. Outside in the vineyard, Rock, Country, Blues, and Jazz bands will play all day until sunset; featuring Byron Berline, renown fiddle player and co-founder of the annual Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield, Kansas.

Check the Tidal School (www.tidalschool.com) website for complete performance line-ups.

Very special guests at the event will be Baker’s wife Carol of Stroud, Oklahoma and son Paul of Oilton, Oklahoma who plan to show memorabilia ranging from Baker’s trumpet to photos and posters. During the event a citation from Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry’s office will be presented proclaiming July 2, 2005 as “Chet Baker Day”, as well as a citation from The Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Event organizers are Bruce Guthrie of Tulsa (www.thejazzsinger.com); Gary Schroeder and Roger Wilson Owners/Tidal School Vineyards (www.tidalschool.com ); working in special conjunction with Charles “Chuck” Cissel, Executive Director of The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame (www.okjazz.org) of which Chet Baker is an inductee. Proceeds from the event will go to The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. Cissel says, “So many great musicians and artists have their roots in Oklahoma, concerts like this mean that we’ll never forget them and not only that, we will introduce them again, with pride, to a new generation of Oklahomans.”

Tickets to the tribute concert are $20 in advance and include a meal and entrance to the day’s indoor and outdoor music performances. The Tidal School Winery will feature its wine selection for purchase by the bottle or “tasting” throughout the event.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Tidal school Vineyards toll free at 866.258.1903 or at the gate for $25 on the day of the event. Seating is limited with additional BYO lawn chair seating available.
